My love of drawing and painting began at an early age when my mother, who was also an artist and an art teacher, provided me with art supplies and inspiration. I began my art education with classes at the local art league in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and then summer programs during high school at Philadelphia College of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Art and Fleisher Institute. After high school I attended Boston University School for the Arts, and graduated Cum Laude in 1979 with a BFA in Painting.
My paintings and drawings are visual impressions of what I see: portraits, figures, still life, landscape and cityscapes. Through the medium of paint and pastel and the use of color, forms, strokes, and lines, I try to capture the essence and express the personal connection I have about a subject. I especially like painting outside “en plein aire” where I can feel immersed in the subject.
My work has been exhibited at the Newburyport Art Association, Whistler House Museum of Art, Bromfield Gallery, The Studio Barn at Cox Reservation, Western Avenue Studios, Hall Haskell House in Ipswich, and Steven’s Memorial Library in North Andover.
